Juneteenth

Juneteenth is celebrated in June.

Celebrating Juneteenth is an easy way to have a black caucus event in your chapter.  You can have a cocktail party like France having or have a BBQ like Germany is having or some other festive celebration. The theme of the celebrations should be a positive celebration of freedom. There is no particular day in June that this event has to take place on.

Be sure to read the Emancipation Proclamation and talk about the importance to freedom for all people.

If you are having a Juneteenth event, please let us know and we will help promote your event. Please remember to take pictures, post them and also send them to me (blackcaucus@democratsabroad.org) and we will post them on our site too.
