Dear DNC Member,

Pursuant to our rules, this email serves as your 30-day notice for our upcoming 2018 Summer DNC Meeting, August 23rd-25th, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. At this meeting, the membership will conduct party business including consideration of the 2020 Call to Convention, the 2020 Delegate Selection Rules and amendments to the Charter & Bylaws. Caucuses and councils will fill any respective vacancies that exist as part of their necessary business. Please find additional details on the meeting below.

If you haven't already done so, so that we can better plan for your arrival in Chicago and get all the necessary materials for you, we kindly ask that you let us know if and when you will be attending the meeting or if you will not be able to join us.

Meeting Schedule

You can find the current tentative schedule here. As always, this is subject to change and we will notify members if and when it does.

Hotel Reservation

You can book your hotel room at the DNC member rate here or you can call the hotel directly. The hotel block closes on July 31, 2018.

Should you be unable to attend any portion of the Summer Meeting, you can fill out a proxy form here. As a reminder, you must fill out a proxy for every individual meeting you plan on missing and the proxy must be designated to another member of the same body. If you cannot attend the meeting, a proxy must be submitted by 5:30pm ET the day prior in which the proxy is to be executed. Onsite proxies will be accepted up to 30 minutes prior to the meeting starting. Members who have to leave the hotel once a meeting has started can submit a proxy prior to leaving. Should you have any questions, please reach out to my office.

Party Business - Proposed 2020 Delegate Selection Rules, Call for 2020 Convention & Proposed Charter Amendments

You can find a letter here from RBC Co-Chairs Jim Roosevelt and Lorraine Miller, that provides an overview of the proposed 2020 Call to Convention and Delegate Selection Rules. The RBC has worked diligently since the beginning of the year to draft these documents that will govern our presidential nominating process and ensure that our party operates in an open and transparent manner. As promised by Chair Perez, you are receiving these documents 30 days in advance of the meeting so that you are able to have plenty of time to review. In the event that you have any proposed changes please send them by August 16th.

To help you better understand the proposed changes around automatic delegates, please find a fact sheet that summarizes the proposal here

We are also in receipt of two proposed amendments to the DNC’s Charter and Bylaws that were properly filed. In accordance with our process, the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee at its meeting in Washington, D.C. on July 10th considered and unanimously approved both proposed amendments. These amendments will be considered by the full DNC at our meeting in August.

Member Engagement Calls

In the lead up to the August meeting we want to ensure that members have ample opportunity to dive deeper into the documents provided to you in this mailing and to be able to ask questions and get clarification before we get to Chicago. My office will be conducting a series of engagement calls, which we will announce later this week. Please be on the lookout for those.
