Ahead of Trump’s Visit to Tampa,
DNC Unveils Mobile, Digital Billboards Slamming the Trump Administration’s Failed COVID-19 Response
Today, the Democratic National Committee is unveiling new billboards in Tampa ahead of Trump’s event at Raymond James Stadium, highlighting how Trump’s failed coronavirus response has hurt Floridians -- leading to more than 16,500 Floridians’ deaths and more than a million lost jobs in the state.
The DNC is deploying a mobile billboard that will reach voters by circling the area around and near Raymond James Stadium ahead of his event, and a digital billboard that is located two miles south of the stadium.
“We’re delivering a message to voters in Tampa they won’t be able to miss: Trump’s failed, incompetent coronavirus response has cost too many Floridians their lives and livelihoods,” said DNC Chair Tom Perez. “Even Donald Trump’s own administration admits he’s given up on trying to control the coronavirus -- and to make matters even worse, he’s still trying to take away health coverage, even in the middle of a pandemic. Floridians of every political persuasion will hold him accountable for this record of failure and his years of broken promises by following through on their plan to vote and making him a one-term president.”

MESSAGE OF THE DAY
1. NEW: Trump Gives up on Trying To Control COVID as U.S. Hits Record for Cases
2. NEW: On “60 Minutes,” Trump Shows He Has No Health Care Plan
3. Senate Vote on Nomination of Amy Coney Barrett
NEWS OF THE DAY
4. 8 Days Until Election Day, 60+ Million Votes Have Been Cast
MESSAGE OF THE DAY
1. NEW: Trump Gives up on Trying To Control COVID as U.S. Hits Record for Cases
Yesterday, Mark Meadows admitted that Trump is “not going to control the pandemic.” Trump refuses to lead and has given up on protecting Americans, leading to a third wave and record high new cases.
This was not a slip by Meadows: it’s the truth. Trump has no plan other than endangering Americans by lying and downplaying the virus.
The U.S. just hit a record-high seven-day average of new cases, and set a record for the number of daily cases on Friday, with more than 85,000 reported.
Hospitalizations have risen 40% in the last month, with 14 states hitting records.
A new study finds the U.S. could have avoided at least 130,000 deaths if Trump’s administration had responded to COVID like other countries did.
It’s no surprise that the coronavirus continues to rage unchecked across the country and even in the White House itself.
Pence, the head of the White House coronavirus task force, has an outbreak in his office with at least five members of his inner circle testing positive, but refuses to follow CDC guidelines to quarantine.
2. NEW: On “60 Minutes,” Trump Shows He Has No Health Care Plan
On “60 Minutes,” Trump revealed yet again that he has no health care plan other than tearing coverage away from tens of millions of Americans and stripping protections from as many as 133 million Americans with preexisting conditions.
Even during a pandemic in which an estimated 12 million people have lost their health insurance, Trump wants to undermine protections for cancer survivors and people with complications from COVID-19.
Trump gave no details of his health care plan — because it doesn’t exist. Instead, Trump doubled down on Republicans’ lawsuit before the Supreme Court to overturn the Affordable Care Act, saying “I hope that they end it.”
If Trump and Senate Republicans succeed in their rushed power grab, Barrett would hear the case in just two weeks and could cast the deciding vote to overturn the ACA.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will protect and build on the Affordable Care Act, expand affordable coverage, lower drug costs and ensure a no-cost COVID vaccine.
3. Senate Vote on Nomination of Amy Coney Barrett
Senate Republicans are rushing a Supreme Court nominee to take health care away from millions of Americans and overturn Roe v. Wade.
More than 60 million Americans have already voted — voters deserve a say in who selects a successor to Justice Ginsburg.
Barrett’s record makes clear she would likely vote to strike down the Affordable Care Act and Roe v. Wade, stripping health care from millions.
If Trump succeeds and Barrett helps overturn the ACA in a case being heard in two weeks, over 20 million people could lose their health insurance and as many as 133 million with preexisting conditions will lose coverage protections.
The vast majority of Americans think Republicans in Congress should be focused on COVID relief for struggling families rather than this political and rushed power grab.
NEWS OF THE DAY
4. 8 Days Until Election Day, 60+ Million Votes Have Been Cast
With 8 days until November 3, more than 60 million voters have already cast their ballots — more than 40% of the total ballots cast in 2016 — and millions more are voting every day.
25% more early votes have been cast than in 2016.
Voters should go to IWillVote.com today to check your registration status, learn what choices you have to cast your ballot, and find out where and when to vote.
Democrats have out-registered Republicans across the country and in battleground states like Arizona and Ohio since 2016.
Today is the deadline to register to vote in Colorado to receive a ballot in the mail and in Washington.
Voters in Colorado and Washington can also register when voting early or at the polls on Election Day.
Democrats have a lead in ballots cast — millions more Democrats have voted than Republicans so far.
Democrats lead in early votes cast in battleground states: Pennsylvania by 46%, Michigan by 24%, Wisconsin by 22%, Arizona by 16%, North Carolina by 14%, and Florida by 12%.
In Texas, voter turnout is already more than 80% of 2016’s total, with more Asian Americans casting ballots than in all of 2016.
In Georgia and Texas, more Black seniors have already voted than voted in all of 2016.
Today is the first day of early voting in Maryland.
Tomorrow is the deadline to request a mail-in ballot in North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Kansas, New York, Oklahoma, and Tennessee.
The Biden campaign has launched the biggest voter protection program in history: thousands of staff on the ground, lawyers, and poll watchers throughout the states to ensure every eligible voter can vote.

“We Are Not Going To Control The Pandemic:” In The Battlegrounds, Trump Slammed For Surrendering To COVID-19
Following Mark Meadows’ admission on CNN that the White House is “not going to control the pandemic,” Democrats across the battleground states slammed Donald Trump’s incompetent response to COVID-19, which has resulted in over 8.6 million U.S. cases and more than 225,000 deaths.
See for yourself:
In Arizona:
Dr. Davis Romney: “While Arizona communities are still suffering from the terrible toll the pandemic has already taken, Trump’s White House is openly admitting they are giving up on containing the coronavirus. To further underscore this administration’s failure of leadership, Mike Pence is out recklessly campaigning despite a coronavirus outbreak within his innermost circle. Arizona’s small businesses and families are facing difficult challenges as case counts and other metrics rise across the state. It didn’t have to be this bad, but Trump failed to lead and now Arizonans are paying the price. Arizona families deserve leaders who will fight for them and help them build back better. The only way we will recover from Trump’s failed leadership is to vote early for Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.”
In Michigan:
Michigan Democratic Party Spokesperson Christian Slater: “Mark Meadows just admitted what Michiganders already knew: Donald Trump has surrendered to COVID-19 and is making us suffer the consequences. Now, because of that surrender, cases in Michigan are reaching record highs and hospitals are hitting maximum capacity. It didn’t have to be this bad, but from day one of this pandemic Trump has shown nothing but reckless disregard for our lives as he lied to us and attacked any measures for addressing the deadly disease. Michigan needs leaders like Joe Biden and Gary Peters who take this pandemic seriously and will take the steps necessary to get it under control.”
In Minnesota:
DFL Party Chair Ken Martin: “It’s absolutely unacceptable that as Minnesotans continue to get sick and die from COVID-19 that the Trump White House has completely given up on doing their jobs to fight for the American people. As Joe Biden put it, President Trump said we’re learning to live with this virus. No, we’re dying with it. At the time of the last debate, America was averaging about 40,000 new cases a day. Now we’re seeing nearly 70,000 new cases a day — and the White House has admitted that ‘We are not going to control the pandemic.’ Minnesotans deserve more than a president who gives up when the going gets tough, and voters across Minnesota will hold Trump and his failure of leadership accountable for the next nine days as we vote in droves for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris, and DFLers up and down the ticket.”
In Nevada:
Nevada State Democratic Party Spokesperson Madison Mundy: “Mark Meadows’ statement that the Trump White House is giving up on controlling the pandemic is a slap in the face to Nevada families who are still reeling from this crisis. As the Trump administration admits defeat, hundreds of thousands of Nevadans are out of jobs and wondering how they’ll make ends meet, while more than 1,700 have lost their lives to the virus. To make matters worse, cases are once again surging in Nevada and across the country. Meanwhile, Trump sabotaged coronavirus relief negotiations to get Nevada families the help they need to make it through this crisis and is instead spending his time attempting to overturn the Affordable Care Act. Nevadans deserves better than Trump’s backwards priorities and in just nine days, they’ll send leaders like Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House to get this crisis under control.”
In Wisconsin:
Democratic Party of Wisconsin Spokesperson Philip Shulman: “Trump and his administration are just saying what we already know: that they have completely given up on trying to get this pandemic under control, even as Wisconsin sees its hospital capacity pushed to the brink by skyrocketing cases of COVID-19 infections and deaths. Even though Trump exacerbated this crisis, he is still trying to strip protections from the 2.4 million Wisconsinites with pre-existing conditions and rip away health care from the 150,000 people who get their health care through the exchange. The only way we will get out of this catastrophe is by electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House on November 3rd.”
