Dear DNC Member,
I hope that this note finds you well and getting ready for a safe and enjoyable 4th of July.
Last week, the DNC Rules & Bylaws Committee met to finalize its recommendation on the issue of automatic delegates. This is an important step forward for our party and I'm excited about the consensus we were able to reach. There are some great stories from the meeting that we wanted to share with you so you could read about the discussion:
CNN: Democrats take big step towards a smaller role for superdelegates
Washington Post: Democrats vote to limit voting power of ‘superdelegates’
NPR: DNC Officials Vote To Scale Back Role Of 'Superdelegates' In Presidential Nomination
Politico Morning Score: Kennedy’s retirement shakes up midterms
The Hill: DNC committee votes to limit power of superdelegates
The next RBC meeting will be held July 11-12 in Washington, DC. At this meeting, the Committee will finalize the language on automatic delegates and any other final edits to the Call and Rules so they can be sent out to you in advance of our meeting in Chicago.
Once the RBC has finished its business next week, we look forward to briefing you on the options that will be before you, the process that has brought us to this point, and answer any questions that you might have. This will be similar to the briefings we held earlier this year on the Unity Reform Commission recommendations.
As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me or my staff. Thank you so much.
