1. NEW: Trump’s Tax Returns Show His Disdain for Working Americans

A bombshell report from the New York Times yesterday shows Trump didn’t pay any federal income taxes for 10 years between 2000-2015, and only $750 the year he was elected president and his first year in office.

  • While hardworking Americans played by the rules and paid federal income taxes, Trump paid $0 for years and only $750 in 2016 and 2017.

    • Trump paid far less than the average teacher, firefighter, or nurse.

  • Trump only sees the world from Park Avenue. He looks out for his rich friends and corporate CEOs but looks down on workers and middle class families struggling to get by — just look at who he’s helped in office.

  • Trump’s made it easier for the 1% and big corporations to get out of paying their fair share.

    • 83% of the benefits from Trump’s tax scam will ultimately go to the wealthiest 1%, and big corporations have already raked in benefits.

    • 100 of the most profitable corporations paid zero taxes after Trump’s tax bill.

    • Trump’s proposing yet another tax cut for super wealthy investors that wouldn’t benefit middle-class Americans.

  • Trump’s done almost nothing to help working people get ahead. He’s even refusing to negotiate critical economic relief to help working families get through this pandemic.

  • Biden sees the world from his hometown of Scranton, Pennsylvania. He knows what it means to work hard, and what working people go through to make ends meet. He’s running for president to help all Americans, not to pad his own pockets.

2. Nomination of Amy Coney Barrett & Future of the Supreme Court

On Saturday, Trump nominated Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

  • While Republicans and Trump have dragged their feet getting relief to the millions of Americans affected by COVID and Trump’s recession, they are rushing to confirm a new justice because they believe they can overturn the Affordable Care Act.

  • Trump’s nominee has a track record of ruling against health care, voting rights, workers rights and more. This nomination risks:

    • Americans’ health care and protections for people with preexisting conditions

    • The right to vote

    • The right to clean air and clean water

    • The right to equal pay for equal work

    • Workers’ right to collectively bargain

    • DREAMers’ ability to avoid deportation

    • Women’s right to reproductive health care guaranteed by Roe v. Wade

  • The Supreme Court will hear Trump’s latest attempt to tear down the Affordable Care Act just one week after the election.

    • If Trump succeeds, his Supreme Court justice would likely help overturn the ACA, 20 million people could lose their health insurance and as many as 133 million Americans with preexisting conditions will lose coverage protections.

    • Trump still has no plan to replace the ACA or protect Americans’ health care.

  • Americans are voting for president in a majority of states, with nearly a million ballots already cast — they deserve a say in who selects a successor to Justice Ginsburg.

    • Never before has a Supreme Court Justice been nominated and installed while a presidential election is already underway.

    • The American people deserve to be heard, especially when health care for millions, in the middle of a pandemic, hangs in the balance.

    • The majority of Americans agree — as many as 6 in 10 want the winner of the election to select Justice Ginsburg’s replacement.

3. Biden Creates More Jobs; Trump Helps for the Rich

  • A new analysis from Moody’s Analytics confirms that Joe Biden is the jobs creator. Biden’s plan would create 18.6 million jobs — 7.4 million more jobs than Trump.

    • Trump’s plan is to double down on tax cuts for the super wealthy and big corporations, which wouldn’t create full employment for working Americans.

    • By investing in working families and our infrastructure, Biden’s plan will lead to low unemployment, higher homeownership, and grow the economy by almost $1 trillion more than Trump.

  • Trump’s economy works for his rich friends and big corporations, but American workers have been left behind.

    • Millions have lost their jobs — and with it their health care and ability to pay the bills — but Trump is focused on more tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%.

  • Last week, new numbers were released showing nearly 1 in 6 workers (26 million Americans) are receiving unemployment assistance.

    • For 27 weeks, more workers have filed unemployment claims than any week during any previous recession.

  • It didn’t have to be this bad but Trump purposely downplayed this virus.

    • More than 13 million Americans are out of work

    • More than half of lost jobs haven’t come back

    • Trump is on track to be the worst jobs president in recorded history

    • More than 100,000 small businesses have closed for good

    • Trump’s actions have “combined to shutter factories … eliminating hundreds of thousands of manufacturing jobs”

  • We need to get back to normal, but we can’t until we get the virus under control. Trump’s push to reopen too quickly without the right precautions has helped create a surge in infections, which makes it harder to fix the economy.

4. 7 Million Americans Infected After Trump Lies About COVID-19

  • Trump lied to the American people and downplayed the coronavirus for months, and now more than 200,000 Americans are dead and 7 million are infected.

  • Trump is on tape admitting that he knew early on that the virus was “deadly,” but that he was “playing it down.”

    • As Trump lied to the American people, he told the truth to Washington insiders — that the coronavirus is “more deadly” than the flu and that it was airborne and highly contagious.

  • And a former senior White House aide confirmed what we know — Trump put his reelection ahead of the health and safety of the American people.

    • Trump rarely attended task force meetings, contradicted his health officials, and wasted months to slow the virus, which “cost lives.”

5. 36 Days Until Election Day, More Than Half of States Are Voting

On Saturday, Dr. Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff traveled to Papillion, NE 48 hours before ballots were mailed to voters.

  • It may be 36 days until November 3, but a majority of states are already voting, including Nebraska, which start mailing ballots today.

  • Go to today to check your registration status, learn how to register to vote and what choices you have to cast your ballot, and find out where and when to vote.

  • Join the record number of new voters registering to vote in states across the country.

    • Democrats are out-registering Republicans across the country, including in key battleground states like Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.

  • Voters in nearly a dozen states are already voting in person, with huge turnout.
