Disability Council Newsletter
Week of 9/29/2020

Fellow Disability Advocates,

Last week, as Deaf and disabled people across the country recognized International Week of the Deaf and celebrated the 47th anniversary of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973we also entered the final 40 days of this campaign. People have begun casting their ballots, and there are just 35 days left until voting is over. Now is the time to get active and help Democrats win!

Will you join us tonight to watch Joe Biden go head-to-head with Donald Trump to debate the critical issues facing our country for the first time?  Be sure to start your night off by joining an official Biden-Harris 2020 kick off watch party before the debate. You can also watch a live stream from DPAN.TV with American Sign Language (ASL) and CART live captions. Information and details on specific watch parties are listed below.

After watching and cheering on Joe Biden, join me and your fellow disabled Democrats for a Biden-Harris event like the Mobilize Mainstreet: a Disability and Small Business community joint training with Senator Casey (9/29/2020), an organizing Friend Bank and Joe App training with Michael J. Fox (9/30/2020), or the Raise Every Voice fundraiser with Senator Kamala Harris, Ali Stroker, Tony Bennet and many other celebrities (10/1/2020). Sign-up links and more details are below.

I know many of you are concerned about accessibility and voter suppression at the polls. The Democratic National Committee, Disability Council, and Biden for President campaign have been working diligently to develop disability engagement and accessible voter protection plans. But we need your help — we are recruiting lawyers, law students, everyday people with disabilities and others to volunteer with voter protection operations in 28 states. See details below, and sign up today.

Check out the list of events with links to sign up below my signature. Everyone is welcome, and with only 35 days left in this election, there is no shortage of diverse opportunities for disabled Democrats to get involved.

Finally, make a plan to vote by going to and share this one-stop voting resource with your family, friends, neighbors, colleagues, and caregivers who want to turn out and vote for Joe Biden, Kamala Harris and Democrats across the country!
