MESSAGE OF THE DAY

1. Trump Attacks Science as U.S. Surpasses 220,000 Coronavirus Deaths

  • Trump’s attacks on experts and science, along with his chaotic behavior, are making the coronavirus crisis worse. The U.S. surpassed 8.2 million cases and 220,000 deaths.

    • COVID is spiking across the country, with increased cases in 39 states and rising hospitalizations in 41 states.

    • Americans are dying at far higher rates than in other high-income countries.

  • Yesterday, Trump attacked Biden by saying he will “listen to Dr. Fauci” — which is absolutely accurate. By ignoring scientists, Trump has made this crisis worse.

    • Biden will work with scientists and public health experts to contain this virus and save lives.

    • Trump has sidelined Dr. Fauci and other experts on his coronavirus task force and pushed dangerous lies from his unqualified Fox News adviser.

    • More than 1,000 current and former CDC officers have criticized the Trump administration’s response to the pandemic.

  • Trump is endangering Americans by continuing to lie about COVID-19 while restarting potential superspreader events.

    • Trump is still undermining and lying about mask wearing, even though universal mask wearing could save nearly 100,000 lives over the next 3 months.

  • Because Trump delayed relief negotiations, millions of struggling families do not have the help they need and the economy is stalled with tens of millions out of work.

    • The vast majority of Americans think Republicans in Congress should be focused on COVID relief for struggling families rather than their rushed Supreme Court power grab.

    • McConnell said Senate Republicans did not support any large deal.

NEWS OF THE DAY

2. Two Weeks Until Election Day, 34+ Million Votes Have Been Cast

  • While it is 14 days until November 3, more than 34 million voters have already cast their ballots — almost a quarter of the total ballots cast in 2016 — and millions more are voting every day.

  • Go to IWillVote.com today to check your registration status, learn what choices you have to cast your ballot, and find out where and when to vote.

  • Democrats have out-registered Republicans across the country and narrowed Republicans’ voter registration advantage is battleground states like Arizona and North Carolina.

  • Democrats have a lead in ballots cast so far — we have requested and returned around 50% more ballots than Republicans.

    • Yesterday, Florida voters “shattered” the state’s record for the first day of early voting, with more than 350,000 ballots cast — 20% more than in 2016.

    • Today, early voting starts in Wisconsin, Hawaii, and Utah.

    • Today is the deadline to request an absentee ballot in Maryland and New Mexico.

  • The Biden campaign has launched the biggest voter protection program in history: thousands of staff on the ground, lawyers, and poll watchers throughout the states to ensure every eligible voter can vote.
