MESSAGE OF THE DAY
1. NEW: Biden Travel to Kenosha, WI
2. Children’s Health and Safety in Trump’s America
NEWS OF THE DAY
3. NEW: 29 Million Americans on UI in Trump’s Recession
4. Six Million Coronavirus Cases in Trump’s America
5. Health Care Under Attack in Trump’s America
Today, Jill and Joe Biden will travel to Wisconsin. Vice President Biden will hold a community meeting in Kenosha to bring together Americans to heal and address the challenges we face.
Trump is fanning the flames of hate and division, defending accused murderers, and trying to blame the chaos that ensues on his political opponents — despite the fact that, last we checked, he is currently the president.
Trump is endangering Americans by failing to rebuke violence and lawlessness.
Trump is no “law and order” candidate — he is weak and unable to confront the very hate he has stoked.
Trump defended his supporters and vigilantes who harass and attack protesters.
Trump downplayed police brutality and fatal police shootings.
Trump’s attorney general has absurdly denied there is any systemic racism in our criminal justice system.
Trump isn’t uniting Americans, he’s targeting cities that didn’t vote for him by attempting likely illegal funding cuts as a political stunt.
Trump’s visit to Kenosha, WI was a political stunt. He didn’t meet with protestors, civil rights activists, or Jacob Blake’s family — or even mention Jacob Blake’s name — and refused to acknowledge the issues of systemic racism or police violence.
Unlike Trump, Vice President Biden will meet with Jacob Blake’s family and leaders from all corners of the community when he travels to Kenosha today.
Americans agree: voters trust Biden over Trump to handle public safety by 8% and on race relations by 19%.
Vice President Biden has repeatedly condemned violence and called for an end to the chaos that Trump is fanning. Trump has not.
As Biden said in May and reiterated last week and Monday, “Rioting is not protesting. Looting is not protesting. Setting fires is not protesting. None of this is protesting – it’s lawlessness – plain and simple. And those who do it should be prosecuted. Violence will not bring change, only destruction.”
Yesterday, Vice President Biden delivered remarks on how Trump’s failure to address COVID-19 is impacting students and educators, and his plan to safely and effectively reopen schools.
Seven months into this crisis, Trump still doesn’t have a plan to address COVID-19, and has no real plan to allow kids and teachers to return to school safely.
Trump’s failure to lead is the very reason many schools can’t reopen safely.
Trump continues to ignore and contradict medical experts, downplay the threat, and claim COVID will miraculously “disappear.”
Health experts, educators, and parents oppose Trump’s demand to unsafely reopen schools and his threat to cut funding to those that don’t reopen.
Dr. Fauci has directly contradicted Trump, saying schools in coronavirus hot spots should not reopen in person.
Trump continues to falsely claim children are “virtually immune” and will not spread the virus even as students across America get sick and have to quarantine.
Cases, hospitalizations, and deaths among children have increased at a far faster rate than the general public.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris would direct FEMA to authorize emergency assistance for K-12 schools and bring congressional leaders together to pass emergency support funding so kids, educators, and staff can safely go back to school.
1.6 million workers filed for some form of jobless aid last week.
For 24 weeks, more workers have filed unemployment claims than any week during any previous recession.
Trump’s mismanagement of the coronavirus has cost nearly 13 million Americans their jobs and forced more than 100,000 small businesses to close for good.
Trump is utterly disconnected from the pain and suffering of so many families.
Trump cut aid that unemployed workers need to pay the bills while proposing new tax cuts for the top 1% and wealthy investors.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris support expanded unemployment insurance for millions of Americans, have a plan to prevent evictions, and know how to build our economy back better.
We surpassed 6.1 million confirmed cases and 185,000 deaths because Trump has failed to contain COVID-19.
He doesn’t listen to experts, doesn’t take it seriously, and doesn’t have a plan.
The White House has effectively admitted that its containment strategy has failed, and now is following through with Trump’s demand to “slow the testing down.”
We are just 4% of the world’s population but have nearly 25% of the world’s cases and over 20% of deaths.
It didn’t have to be this bad. Recently, Americans are 6 times more likely to die and 8 times more likely to get infected than people in other high-income countries.
Trump is playing politics with our lives. He has undercut health experts and dangerously pressured the CDC and FDA to change their guidance on everything from testing and mask wearing to untested treatments.
Trump is interfering in the vaccine approval process, with experts raising concerns that the administration is seeking to rush a vaccine before Election Day.
More than 60 percent of Americans said the federal government’s response has made the recovery worse, not better.
Joe Biden will rely on science and experts to guide his coronavirus response, including in developing a vaccine. At every step of this crisis, Trump has put political considerations ahead of the health and safety of Americans.
Even during a pandemic in which an estimated 12 million people have lost their health insurance, Trump is still trying to tear health care away from 20 million Americans.
Trump would strip protections from as many as 133 million Americans with preexisting conditions, including people with disabilities and potentially those who have had COVID.
Joe Biden and Kamala Harris will protect and build on the Affordable Care Act, expand affordable coverage, lower prescription drug costs and ensure a no-cost COVID vaccine.
