MESSAGE OF THE DAY
1. Biden Won the First Debate
2. NEW: Unemployment Claims Grow as Trump Puts the Rich Before Workers
NEWS OF THE DAY
3. 200,000+ Americans Die After Trump Lies About COVID-19
4. Nomination of Amy Coney Barrett & Future of the Supreme Court
5. 33 Days Until Election Day, 2 Million Votes Have Been Cast
There was one leader on the debate stage, and one liar. And there was one president at the debate, and it wasn’t the person who flew in on Air Force One.
Biden took the opportunity to speak directly to the American people. He spoke to:
Families about how the crises facing our country are impacting them.
Americans who lost family members to COVID-19.
Workers struggling to get by because of jobs that moved overseas under Trump’s watch and because Trump inherited a good economy and wrecked it.
After the debate, Biden took his message directly to the American people. Traveling by train, Biden met with workers and their families in Ohio and Pennsylvania and talked about what he will do to create jobs and build our economy back better.
Trump refused to disavow white supremacists multiple times.
Hate groups were celebrating Trump’s answers and using them for recruitment.
Biden offered comprehensive plans on the crises plaguing our country. Trump offered only interruptions and lies.
Trump was desperate, weak, and angry. He’s losing the race, and on the debate stage he lost his temper. Even the moderator conceded that he couldn’t follow Trump’s nonsensical ranting.
Biden demonstrated the leadership and temperament that Americans around the country are looking for.
Trump sees the world from Park Avenue. He looks out for his rich friends and corporate CEOs but has left behind working families.
Biden sees the world from his hometown of Scranton. He knows what it means to work hard, and what working people go through to make ends meet.
In the past two days, tens of thousands of workers have been laid off — from Disney to American Airlines — as Trump continues to mismanage COVID-19 and hold up a critical economic relief to help working families.
Trump’s tax returns show his disdain for workers. While hardworking Americans played by the rules and paid federal income taxes, Trump paid $0 for 11 years and only $750 in 2016 and 2017 — far less than the average teacher, firefighter, or nurse.
Trump’s made it easier for the 1% and big corporations to get out of paying their fair share.
83% of the benefits from Trump’s tax law will go to the wealthiest 1%.
Nearly 100 of the biggest corporations paid zero taxes after Trump’s tax law.
Today, new numbers were released showing nearly 1 in 6 workers (26.5 million Americans) are receiving unemployment assistance, more than the previous week.
1.4 million workers filed new unemployment claims last week.
For 28 weeks in a row, more workers have filed unemployment claims than any week during any previous recession.
It didn’t have to be this bad but Trump purposely downplayed this virus. We need to get back to normal, but we can’t until we get the virus under control.
More than 13 million Americans are out of work
More than half of lost jobs haven’t come back
Trump is on track to be the worst jobs president in modern history
As many as 400,000 small businesses have closed for good
A new study finds Trump is the “single largest driver” of coronavirus misinformation in the world. Trump’s lies and insistence on contradicting experts have made this crisis worse, and now more than 207,000 Americans are dead and 7.2 million are infected.
Hundreds of Americans are dying every day, but Trump has dismissed the death toll, saying, “It is what it is.”
Even as Democrats offer to compromise, Trump is refusing to sit down to negotiate relief for the millions of Americans hurt by COVID and his recession, while rushing to confirm a new Supreme Court justice because he wants to overturn the ACA.
Trump is on tape admitting that he knew early on that the virus was “deadly,” but that he was “playing it down.”
As Trump lied to the American people, he told the truth to Washington insiders — that the coronavirus is “more deadly” than the flu and that it was airborne and highly contagious.
And a former senior White House aide confirmed what we know — Trump put his reelection ahead of the health and safety of the American people.
Trump rarely attended task force meetings, contradicted his health officials, and wasted months to slow the virus, which “cost lives.”
While Republicans and Trump have dragged their feet getting relief to the millions of Americans hurt by COVID and Trump’s recession, they are rushing to confirm a new justice because they want to overturn the Affordable Care Act.
Trump’s nominee has a track record of ruling against health care, voting rights, workers rights, and more. This nomination risks:
Americans’ health care and protections for people with preexisting conditions
Women’s right to reproductive health care guaranteed by Roe v. Wade
The right to vote
The right to clean air and clean water
The right to equal pay for equal work
Workers’ right to collectively bargain
DREAMers’ ability to avoid deportation
The Supreme Court will hear Trump’s latest attempt to tear down the Affordable Care Act just one week after the election.
If Trump succeeds and his justice helps overturn the ACA, 20 million people could lose their health insurance and as many as 133 million Americans with preexisting conditions will lose coverage protections.
Trump still has no plan to replace the ACA or protect Americans’ health care.
Americans are voting for president in a majority of states — with 2 million votes already cast — and they deserve a say in who selects a successor to Justice Ginsburg.
Never before has a Supreme Court Justice been nominated and installed while a presidential election is already underway.
The majority of Americans want the winner of the election to select Justice Ginsburg’s replacement.
It may be 33 days until November 3, but 2 million votes have already been cast and a majority of states are already voting.
Of the 9 million voters who have requested mail ballots in battleground states, Democrats have requested almost twice as many ballots as Republicans.

Democrats are out-registering Republicans across the country, including in key battleground states like Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania.
A record number of voters have requested mail-in ballots in numerous states — with Democrats far in the lead.
Democrats have requested and returned half of ballots, while Republicans have only requested and returned a third.
Voters in nearly a dozen states are already voting in person, with huge turnout.
Biden’s campaign has launched the biggest voter protection program in history: thousands of staff on the ground, lawyers, and poll watchers throughout the states to ensure every eligible voter can vote.
